Body Language

After entering the ring, many wrestlers take a few moments
to strike a pose, allowing the fans to check them out before the action
begins. Good posers can express their attitude and wrestling style just
by the way they stand. These masked hotties, The Eagle and The Falcon, try
to look tough, and it's working.
Here is an interesting
ring pose by this Tag Team. The beefy dude kneels before his partner,
who places a hand on his head. The caption says they're "trying
to impress fans with their muscular builds." You can tell by their
hair and bodies that these are flamboyant cheaters.
The handsome younger guy lets his partner
take a seat on his knee, one leg hooked between the younger man's thighs.
I guess these leather-vested studs are trying to demonstrate how well
they work as a team. Their pose says alot about their close relationship.
These two Mexican wrestlers are
giving the third man in the white gear a nice long shoulder massage as he
rests against their beefy bodies. Maybe he was hurt so they are helping
him to his feet. These are clearly good guys who enjoy helping others
and always obeying the rules.
I don't speak Spanish
so it's hard to translate the caption. It's also hard to translate
the body language going on in this photo. Maybe in Mexico, it's customary
for men to kneel down and pat one another on the ass.
The ref
can't help but smile as he stands between two great looking Tag Teams in matching
gear. The good guys in speedos are about to take a beating from the cruel
dudes in tight black singlets.
Bockwinkle and Stevens, the older fatter
beasts, try to intimidate the brave young High-Flyers before their historic
match. You can see action photos of this battle in Gallery 376.
Here is Peter Cortez ready for action
while Jon Cortez can't wait to tag in. Clearly we can tell these lads
are energetic young High-Flyers who use wild aerial tactics to win their
matches.
Check
out these flamboyant blonds, strutting around the ring in their matching
gear after winning the match. You can just tell there is more going
on in their locker room than just a shower and a shave! The implication
is that these studs are "partners" in the modern sense.
Lex
Lugar kneels for several seconds after entering the ring. He saw cameras
flashing rapidly when he struck this pose, so he decided to pause and allow
the fans to take plenty of photos of his huge muscles.
Curt Hennig, a personal favorite of mine,
is glistening with sweat as he pauses on his way back to the locker room
to allow everyone to check him out. He wasn't the most muscular wrestler,
but damn!
King Ben and Kid McCoy from British Pro Wrestling
were one of the few father/son Tag Teams to climb in the ring together.
As their positions in this picture imply, King Ben was constantly
rescuing his eager young son from the ruthless tactics of their opponents.
These
brawny studs look powerful with their thick gold belts strapped around their
bellies. The dirty Tag Teams often held secret conversations before
the match to plot their cheating maneuvers. You just knew they were
up to no good when they started whispering!
These wrestlers are proud
of their shiny gold Championship belts, and of their husky bodies. They
show off both as they prepare to get it on in the ring. Clearly, they are
no-nonsense veteran brawlers jusding from their gear and poses.
Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin are chubby
and hairy and they don't care what people think about that. They also
wear eye make-up and strut around like they're the hottest studs in wrestling.
Their flamboyant arrogance seems to drive the fans crazy.
Here is the entire Guerrero clan in the
ring, looking mean and waiting to kick some Gringo ass. They were one
of the most dominant families in Pro Wrestling, as you can tell from their
fierce poses.
Just from the way they stood in the ring, you could tell that
you didn't want to mess with the dangerous Malenko Brothers. They seemed
like they might calmly and patiently rip off one of your arms or legs if
you got on their bad side.
Barefoot Kevin Von Erich is looking ripped
in this photo. His body looks like chiseled stone. Being lean,
with just a speedo as his only protection, Kevin is clearly a vulnerable
Baby-Face who will have to pull out all the stops to win.
Greg Valentine
was Inter-Continental Champ for many years. I'm sure his beefy body
and vicious no-nonsense attitude had a lot to do with him keeping that belt
around his waist. His pose, as he peels off his robe, says "What a
stud!"
Rick Martel formed the team
"Strike Force" with Tito Santana, two handsome baby-faces who climbed in
the ring wearing all white gear to show off their innocence and honesty.
Later Martel
partnered with hottie Tom Zenk as the "Can-Am Connection", but the gimmick
was the same: two handsome young studs decked out in clean white jackets
and trunks, ready to take a long beating but maybe win in the end.
Nobody gives off a macho vibe in the ring like Hector Garza.
Maybe it's the way his beefy body barely fits in those tiny speedos,
or maybe it's just the way he stands ready for action, fully expecting to
be worshipped by the fans. Whatever, this Latino just screams "SEX!"
OK
here is a quiz to see if you've learned how to read the wrestlers' poses.
What kind of Tag Team are they:
(a) Ruthless beasts with savage tendencies who like to use chairs and tables
in their matches
(b) Innocent boy scouts who obey all the rules and suffer prolonged abuse
(c) Cocky, flashy, (and possibly gay) bad-boys who often show off and double-team
the opponents
_____________
If you answered "(c)", give yourself a gold star!
This hottie in the black bikini strikes a tempting
pose to entice the fans to want to wrestle him. He locks his arms
behind the ropes, putting his body in a self-imposed trap as if he is inviting
the opponent to do anything to him.
Yowza!! It's not often you see a face
that handsome stuck on a body that incredible, but this Skip Roberts from
Can-Am Wrestling is the
total package!
Shane Styles takes an arrogant
position on the ropes, forcing his anxious opponent to wait a just bit longer
before locking up with that lean, pierced physique. This demonstrates his
personality as a sadistic bad boy.
This
long-haired stud from Indy wrestling wears some interesting trunks into the
ring. I think they are laced together in front like a pair of football
pants. He stands for a while to give the fans time to fantasize about
untieing those laces.
Many of the young heroes like Chris Sabin climb on the ropes
to strike their Warrior Pose so they can be seen and worshipped by all the
fans. This gives the impression that they are agile and quick like Tarzan.
That
design on Sabin's hip is pretty interesting, so let's zoom in for a closer
look at the dirty details here. What do these trunks tell the fans about
Chris Sabin?
One of the cutest little guys
on the Indy scene is "Spanky," also known as Brian Kendrick. This
kid may look like a pretty-boy wimp, but damn he takes some big bumps in
the ring!
Clearly this monster is NOT a pretty-boy
jobber who will let you walk all over him! I'll bet anyone that this
beast will toss his smaller opponents around like rag-dolls, often injuring
them and drawing blood.
Flex Falcone and Shawn Spears,
also knowns as "Models, Inc.," carry on a conversation in their corner.
Gotta love when the wrestler outside the ring puts his foot up on
the bottom rope!
