Gallery 731 Hung in a Tree |
|
|
The "Tree of Woe" is when
a wrestler is hung upside down over the corner buckles, one or both of his
legs wrapped tightly around the turn-buckle supports to keep him locked in. |
|
A wrestler in this position
is very helpless and vulnerable. Because he is inverted and his legs
are trapped, his opponent can punch, kick, bitch-slap, or claw him. Or
even pull his hair! |
|
Here is a big stud just hanging
there waiting for the opponent to abuse him. You would think most wrestlers
in this position could untangle their legs and escape, but they never do.
At least not at first. |
This kid planned to wear a
black shirt to cover his belly. But the opponent hangs him in the Tree
of Woe, exposing his belly-welly. The dudes at ringside think his humiliation
is funny. |
|
I guess if this wrestler insists
on wearing pants in the ring, at least he wore fancy white pants. His
opponent is going to split those tight jeans by hanging the stud up like
an ornament on the Christmas tree. |

Lex Lugar grips young Kendall
Windham by the crotch and holds him upside down. He's either going
to spike this kid's lower back on the turnbuckles, or trap his leg over the
ropes in the dreaded Tree of Woe. |
|
Here are the Naturals, Andy Douglas
and Chase Stevens, from TNA Wrestling.
What's going on, Is Douglas kicking his own helpless partner in the
face?? |
I wonder when this great hold
was invented?? Here is a picture from the Golden Age showing Mr. Wrestling
trapped in the humiliating Tree of Woe position as his opponent prepares
to kick his soft stomach. |
|
Here is another beefy hunk
caught in the Tree. He hangs one leg over the top rope and gives the
fans a nice view of his crotch by hooking his other leg under the bottom
rope. |
|
The ref stops the opponent
from attacking the helpless man. At least refs inforced the rules back
then! Now wrestlers are permitted to blatantly attack a man in the
Tree of Woe. |

|
The Patriot shows us an interesting
variation of the Tree of Woe as he hangs outside the ropes rather than in
front of the turnbuckle pads. His opponent can still run up and boot
him in that gut. |
|
These wrestlers both decided
to wear red and black gear for their brutal match. The punk hanging
in the Tree of Woe even dyed his hair red and black to match his wrestling
gear! |
The Tree of Woe is named after
a scene in Conan the Barbarian where James Earl Jones (aka Thulsa
Doom) says to the governor: "That is strength, boy! That is power! What is steel compared to the hand that wields it? Look at the strength in your body, the desire in your heart, I gave you this! Such a waste. Contemplate this on the Tree of Woe. Crucify him!" Then Conan wakes up tied to a tree and I think kills a vulture, then his Tag Team partner runs up and rescues him. |
|
I wonder what this classic
pro wrestler is contemplating on the Tree of Woe. He's probably wondering
whether the fans are checking out that bulge in his wrestling trunks, which
is exposed when a wrestler hangs in this position. |
|
|
This muscular wrestler sports
some shiny blue pants and coated his smooth body with some oil to enhance
his physique. I'll be he'd look great hanging in the Tree of Woe! |
|
Sure enough, his body looks
even more ripped when stretched out in the Tree. Whoever he is wrestling
against can take his time punishing that helpless body, hanging like a side
of beef at the butcher shop. |
