A reader of this Blog recently sent me a link to a video of “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin giving a speech to build heat and sexual tension for his match at ROH Final Battle against former friend Roderick Strong. As usual for wrestling speeches, the language is violent and threatening, but under the surface, also erotically charged and full of sexually innuendos — words and phrases that could refer to either fucking or fighting…
He asks Roderick to do him a favor and open up his trunks a little bit. How is this a “favor” — to expose oneself? The term “favor” implies that Elgin enjoys and appreciates seeing “Roddy” expose himself, thus Roddy opening up his trunks is considered a favor in Elgin’s eyes.
Next Elgin asks Roderick to reach down and make sure that he has a set (of balls). To demonstrate, Elgin performs the check himself, plunging a hand down into his open singlet and cupping his scrotum. Elgin has emasculated Roderick Strong by implying he has no testicles and is therefore feminine — or at best, neutered.
Elgin is also flirting with his opponent (as wrestlers often will do during their interviews) by playing with himself, one hand gripping his cock, while chastising and threatening his enemy. Reaching in and grabbing himself, while talking about and thinking about Roderick Strick, implies that he may have more that just wrestling on his mind right now.
Elgin mentions to Roderick that he’s going to need his balls for their match — but my question is: Need them for WHAT?! You don’t really need your balls to wrestle, but you do need them for sex. For the villain to say: “Make sure you got a set… Your gonna need them” is more of a proposition to Roderick Strong than a threat of physical abuse.
Having his singlet straps pulled down around his hips is a departure for Michael Elgin. Usually his massive body is covered and constrained in a tight bodysuit. However, for this interview, he decided to expose himself, roll the singlet down to air out his massive chest, and give this interview from a more naked position. This increases the intensity of his flirtation with Roderick Strong, as if he wants to get naked with Roderick.
Pro wrestlers seem to reach down into their trunks and fish around fairly often in public. Why is that? Didn’t their mothers slap their hands away when they were caught playing Pocket Pool?
Maybe the grabby wrestler’s trunks are a bit too tight around the old nuttal region, so he needs to reach down for a five-finger adjustment? Or is the wrestler trying to emphasize his masculinity by drawing attention to his manhood — his bulging trunks?
Or maybe the hand-in-the-pants is meant to highlight the erotic nature of wrestling, as if the wrestler is now turned on, as if he is so horny, he can barely keep his hands off himself.
Or maybe he has a foreign object hidden down under and he’s reaching in to whip it out…
