Happy New Year, wrestling fans!
My first Blog article — which was titled “I’m baaaack…” — appeared on January 1, 2011, so today marks the beginning of a third year of blogging about pro wrestling. My first blog article paid homage to the classic pro wrestling magazines:
“In memory and in celebration of the great Rasslin’ magazines that many of us grew up on, this blog will primarily feature photos of wrestlers both old and new in the ring using their incredible holds. Also, for now, I’ll be adding some little captions under the photos to try to explain or enhance the images and describe what I like about them.”
After two years of blogging, the above vision statement still accurately describes this blog, although I’ve tried to be informative and thought-provoking as well, talking about the psychology and meaning behind the wrestling action as much as I can decipher it — in an attempt to explain why I love (am addicted to?) pro wrestling.
So what will The Wrestling Arsenal Blog provide in the weeks and months to come? Mostly more of the same, I suppose:
- Pretty-Boys suffering; Baby-Faces in Peril
- Dirty, cruel double-teaming and cheating
- Great looking wrestlers in revealing gear
- Decoding of the symbols and scenarios that make pro wrestling a turn-on
- Complex wrestling holds with interesting names
If this is not interesting to you, if my Blogs are getting too repetitive, if this content is “monotonous” as one commenter has stated, well it was nice knowing you. If, however, you love to read about and see images of the above-listed bullet points, then you’ve come to the right place and I think you’ll enjoy the upcoming articles.
I would point out that my Blog is no more monotonous than pro wrestling itself. Either you are turned on by these scenarios and enjoy seeing them acted out over and over again (actually can’t get enough of it), or pro wrestling is not for you. As Vinny Mac famously said:
“To those who believe in the beauty of professional wrestling, nothing needs to be said. For those who don’t appreciate wrestling, nothing could be said to change their minds.”
I believe in the beauty of pro wrestling and I am writing this Blog for fellow wrestling lovers.
So if you can feel me, if you understand why I love pro wrestling, if you get off on wrestling as much as I do (even though we can’t explain why), then sit back, relax, enjoy the suffering, and I’ll keep right on blogging until I run out of things to say about wrestling and why I love it.
