In case you don’t follow mainstream pro wrestling, the current faction of ambitious Bad Boys is known as “The Shield.” Their gimmick is that they’re vigilantes out to ensure that justice is served in the sport of wrestling (while also serving their own selfish interests.)
Are these Men in Black — Abrose, Reigns, and Rollins — meant to be heroes or villains? Currently, they’re portraying cruel bullies, but the kind of cruel bullies who are so damn sexy and intriguing, we love them anyway. The only negative about The Shield is they tend to wear layers of black combat gear in the ring instead of the traditional boots-and-briefs.
Like most pro wrestling factions, the concept behind their alliance is that power is a numbers game — that a Team Player is a Winner — that the strong bonds between the soldiers in their army are the source of their strength.
Also like most pro wrestling factions, the cohesiveness of their partnership is implied through borderline homo-erotic antics. They whisper, touch each other on the hair or face, and often hang on one another. When filming self-interviews on their camcorder, their mouths hang open suggestively with their faces about two inches apart.
Their tender Public Displays of Affection for one another while violently punishing all outsiders further highlights the strength of their bonds while also suggesting that anyone outside of their Ménage-à-Shield is inferior and deserves to suffer.
The Shield recently focused their cold gazes on Dolph Ziggler — who has been demoted from cocky “Show Stealer” down to “Every Heel’s Wet Dream,” the epitome of the pretty blond jobber. In the past month or two, the heartless promoters have tossed Ziggler in the ring with this pack of hounds several times, forcing him to fight all three members of The Shield at once. I gotta admit, I LOVE those odds!
Sometimes they simply schedule a three-on-one Handicap Match to showcase poor Dolph’s helplessness under the Shield’s crushing black boots. Other times they give him a Tag Team partner or two, but his partner(s) can be seen helplessly watching from outside the ropes while the bastards in black isolate, torture, and humiliate (yet again) Mr. Ziggler. (I thought The Shield is supposed to stand for justice, but ganging up Three-Against-One on a dude is FAR from just!)
The Shield demonstrates their effective male-on-male-on-male bond by combining their strength to deliver the Triple Power Slam, shattering Ziggler on the mat and leaving him broken at their feet.
Their frequent “Destroy Dolph” matches are carefully staged to emphasize the contrast between Ziggler and his tormentors: the Naked Male vs Clothed Males; blond hair vs. dark hair; bare tan flesh vs all black gear; standing in power vs. laying down defeated; etc.
I’ve lost count of how many times the Shield has been unleashed on my poor Ziggler, but each of their encounters are just dripping with sexual tension. The attackers act aroused by their power — lording their strength advantage over their victim. And they work all kinds of kinky, twisted BDSM erotica into their punishment of Ziggler — tying him up in the ring ropes, scratching his back, pulling his hair, or standing with a black boot planted on his bare chest for example.
Until recently, Ziggler enjoyed a dominant position at the top of the Totem Pole as the up-and-coming young hottie. He was the “Show Off” — the arrogant Bad Boy whom nobody could top, in neither wrestling prowess nor showmanship. But ever since breaking up with his girlfriend, Ziggler has become a helpless eunuch, forced to job for whatever big monster(s) they can find and throw at him. It seems he is being punished for some transgression, made to pay over and over again for some undefined sin.
The Shield is supposedly dedicated to justice — righting the wrongs committed in the ring. But what has Ziggler done to break the rules? How has he been “unjust”, thus inspiring The Shield to discipline him??
Maybe his cocky attitude has come back to haunt him. Maybe acting like a D-Bag in his rookie days has inspired his enemies to want to humble him. Or maybe he is punished for his angelic looks — for achieving a level of perfection that makes the rest of us schmucks jealous. Whatever the reason, seeing Ziggler in pain, gasping for mercy at the feet of his superiors, just feels so damn RIGHT!
One member of The Shield — Roman Reigns — has perfected the “Spear”, where he launches his body full force into the exposed midsection of his opponent. DAMN! He wrecks their whole world with this missile blast! This move looks so fucken stiff and harsh! I posted these animations of Ziggler getting turned inside out by this killer move because still photos just don’t do it justice. UGGNNNHHH! gasps Dolph Ziggler, looking like a fawn that just got hit by a car.
And why haven’t I been blogging more about Roman Reigns?! What a specimen of goateed machismo and confidence! I should probably tell my doctor that I’ve been watching Roman Reigns in the ring, because when he licks his little beard, looking all smug, dark, intense and dominant, I suffer at least three heart attacks every time.
Thanks to that Spear to the gut, Ziggler has been utterly crucified by The Shield, broken and defeated as they stand over his carcass and gloat.
This is so perfect, everything you’d want a Three-on-One beating to be. Nobody rushes to Ziggler’s rescue, which further implies that he is all alone, that his cocky attitude has turned the other wrestlers against him.
Gripping Ziggler by his golden locks, the lead bastard holds him against the ropes and taunts him. Ohhh, I love that unnecessary roughness, that extra little post-match degradation! Ziggler has already suffered the loss of his self esteem and manly pride — he is now reduced to a limp ragdoll. He can’t even fight back or stand up like a true man!
Reigns is hot and does smug well, I’ll give you that – but I’d rather see an Edge spear any day over a Reigns one. To me, Reigns seems just a little more hesitant and unsure about his spear, but Edge delivered them with full gusto!
