A few weeks ago, I blogged about “Just Headlocks” — my tribute to the most simple, basic wrestling hold. And you guys loved it — I received a lot of great feedback.
So maybe, like pro wrestling itself, there is no need to get too fancy and frilly on this blog. Maybe I should stick to the basics — “basic holds with tons of selling”. So for you lovers of simple, beautiful, wrestling action, here is another batch of just headlocks…
I think my favorite comment, the last time I blogged about Just Headlocks, came from a reader named Mark. He explains how exciting and entertaining a Headlock can be when performed by wrestlers who know how to perform it properly:
“Get your man’s head locked against your chest, get that Bicep flexed and give it to him. Drag him around the ring for a while, showing ALL the fan’s what your selling and what he’s selling. Your enjoyment, his suffering.
Best thing about the side headlock is, when you’re finished showing him off, you can introduce your fist to his face– let him meet the Turnbuckle, or drag his pretty face along the top rope. A Side Headlock can lead to many more Great way’s to Punish the guy.”
If we go to a commercial break in a Randy Orton match, chances are, when we come back to the show he’ll have his opponent in a headlock. I love him for that.
