When I saw that the “Muscle Domination Wrestling” website had produced a superhero video (Super Men 3.2) featuring a villainous, muscular “Bane” character (whom they call “Vain”), I couldn’t wait to download the video and watch this buff Bad Guy breaking some helpless Superhero in half. After all, two of my favorite posts of all time on this Blog were my discussion of Batman’s Bane and follow-up article on Bane Breaks the Batman (using an OTK Backsnapper.)
In this Muscle Domination Wrestling video, Bane Vain and a Superman Wanna-be face off in the ring. Superstud may be the heroic figure in his spandex bodysuit, but the ripped, well-oiled Vain is the more spectacular male. Just as comic-book Bane was much stronger than Batman, so too is this fight shaping up to be a mis-match.
To reference Bane from the Batman comics, Vain wears the odd jockstrap harness on his face. I love that the Vain character enters the ring proudly shirtless. Batman’s enemy “Bane” is usually shown in comics or in the movies with his big body covered in clothing. I sat through the entire “Dark Knight Rises” movie waiting to get a rise myself if you catch my drift, and was ultimately disappointed that Bane lacked sex appeal. He was so annoyingly clothed.
Well Vain in this wrestling video has no qualms about showing off his body just like any good pro wrestler would, and what a body it is!
To demonstrate the pathetic, impotent frailty of Superstud, Vain allows the hero to attempt to inflict whatever damage he can early in the match. So we see Superstud throwing fists into Vain’s willingly exposed stomach (no effect), and whipping the hard body from corner to corner (Vain practically yawns.)
We even see Vain on his knees, willingly offering Superstud the power and control by allowing himself to be hand-cuffed. Whoa, things are getting kinky now!
The character of Vain is portrayed by the boss of “Muscle Domination Wrestling” himself, Muscle Master Kevin. This is one Alpha Male who understands the allure of the Powerful, Dominant Overlord, exuding confidence and hyper-masculinity out of every pore. He also uses a slow, commanding voice to verbally dominate his opponent (and us) as he utters numerous statements about how strong and unbeatable he is: “You can’t take away the power of these muscles, Superstud! You really think you can bend these arms? I was made into the Ultimate Man. EVERYONE was made to bow to me!”
Superstud grows more and more frustrated and desperate as none of his attacks have any real effect on the invulnerable body of the awesome Vain. The hero begins to pant heavily, almost grunting with every breath, as he tries to squeeze, punch, and tackle the more powerful man.
At one point, the hero gasps (in an almost pleading voice): “This is impossible — you can’t be this strong!” Vain later replies: “You really have the audacity to stand against me?!… All of you at home can see what happens when Vain is opposed!”
When I was a youngster, we used to play Superheroes in the neighborhood and would make statements like that about power and strength, “You will NEVER defeat my muscles,” stuff like that. What a delicious mind-fuck to say that to one of your playmates or hear him say it to you. It was way hotter than playing baseball in the vacant lot. It made me want to play superheroes all the time, and watch pro wrestling, and read Superhero comic books. The ongoing banter between Superstud and Vain reminds me of those hot summer days.
One cardinal rule of pro wrestling is that all competitors must promote the realism of the action by “selling” their opponents’ moves — by acting devastated and broken after he kicks you or slams you or whatever. Refusing to play up the effectiveness of another wrestler’s moves is called “No Selling” and it is considered very disrespectful.
Well Vain No-Sells the fuck out of pathetic Superstud’s attempts to hurt him. He even carries on a casual conversation in Stud’s bearhug as he puffs up his chest to break the hold.
A short video clip of this superhero battle on YouTube provides a summary of the action. You can hear the Superstud character gasping for breath and begging pathetically for mercy… (No! No. No. Nooooo!)
Vain fulfills the fantasy of the Ultimate Man — the invulnerable, unbeatable, powerful Master that all men are meant to aspire to. He is clearly the true “Superstud” in this ring, and I haven’t even gotten to the point where he takes control and begins to punish the Hero.
This article is already long enough, so we will need to save the remainder of my review of Super Men 3.2 for a future blog posting. Same Vain website, same Vain time!
Oh yeah the verbal. Just in case you didn’t understand it from the visuals, it helps for a verbal “no… he’s too STRONG for me!” or “How can this be happening … my muscles are USELESS now!” just to keep it hot. As a kid I also played those games (didn’t we all?) — the Big Man Who Endures Torture But Breaks Free. It’s ingrained in us as red blooded American males – be muscular, tough, take your lumps. That’s why wrestling is so popular, and why when you REALLY want to admit it, the beating Super takes by “Vain” is something that gets you going.
I know MMK checks in on blog posts from time to time – hoping he will say where the Vain mask is from – been looking for something similar to no avail.
I had a fan buy the mask and gear for me off http://www.mr-s-leather.com/
