Windham Whipped, 2

Lets continue our look at the Tag Team torture by two of the best heels of all time — Murdoch and Koloff — against possibly the very best rookie Baby-face of all time: Barry Windham.  Over and over, we see the bad guys’ finger in innocent young Barry’s red briefs — restraining him, preventing him from reaching his partner, and yanking him around by the waist-band.  This is not only humiliating, but also implies a lot of nasty sexual intent by these two fat rapists.  Like I said, these are some of the best in-ring performers of all time.

In every pro wrestling match, someone’s got to play the Baby-face.  Someone’s got to garner the compassion and sympathy of the fans by sprawling or crawling around in helpless agony, grunting and groaning.  Someone’s got to be emasculated — to be on the receiving end of the belly stomps, elbow smashes, and stiff slams. Someone’s got to check their ego at the locker room door and play the submissive bottom.   Normally, that “someone” is the youngest, cutest, and blondest dude in the ring.  The best thing about Windham is that he knew his role.  He proudly accepted his role (knowing how much the fans love it) and he played the cards he was dealt without restrain.  This wrestling fan always appreciated his efforts.

Great shots. Windham in his early face years was instant jizz at my house.

  2. Great seeing Barry beat up. I’m not as familiar with his days as a babyface jobber, though I remember him with Mike Rotunda in the WWF. I wonder if Barry took out some of his frustrations with being a rag doll when he became the heel. Windham is in the top 5 of heels I would have loved to have been dominated by. He completely knew how to destroy a jobber, from Tommy Angel to Brad Armstrong. He especially liked yanking on the trunks, something, we now know, he knew about from the other end.
