Extreme Headlocking, 1 of 2

Continuing on yesterday’s “Long Winter’s Nap” theme, I’ve noticed many wrestlers have been treating the Headlock as if it’s a Sleeper lately.  Randy Orton’s opponents, for example, will often begin to drift off to sleep — their facial muscles relaxing, their eyelids drooping — as Randy pumps, grinds, and twists on the neck.

Dean Ambrose does a masterful job positioning himself as Randy’s helpless little bitch, letting his arms drop like deflating balloons.  I guess our take-away is that Randy is so strong, his bicep so powerful, that his Headlocks actually have the effect of a Sleeperhold.

Dolph Ziggler always seems to fall asleep when he’s locked in a Headlock too.

Some of you are probably thinking: “How boring — to watch a guy just lay there taking a nap while the other guy holds onto his neck.”  Well, when it’s Dolph taking that nap, my cock doesn’t seem to think it’s boring at all.

Some jobber in tights nearly gets his head ripped off.  Why do I love seeing that??

If you want your Headlock to have the same powerful sedative effect as a Sleeper, you need to have big, hard, flexy arms, and you need to work the hell out of the hold.

You need to twist your body, pump your hips, and really pour on the pressure with every ounce of your being.  That hard work pays off when you have your opponent at your mercy.

I guess Extreme Headlocking is not a totally new innovation in the wrestling world.  Here is a vintage photo of Austin Idol using his massive bicep to cruelly smother everybody’s favorite Baby-Face, Ricky Steamboat.

Tomorrow we will continue this tribute to Extreme Headlocking by reviewing a recent match that featured one of the longest, most awesome Headlocks I’ve seen in the past decade.

The Arsenal analysis on headlocks is excellent! Yesterday’s article “A Long Winter’s Nap” was great and headlocks is definitely worth of your continuing writing…

I seem to remember the long, on-the-mat headlocks applied by Randy Savage and Ted Dibiase during the heyday of the Hogan-era WWE. They would clamp on a headlock and it “kind of worked like a sleeper,” and with both men on the mat Dibiase would kick up his legs and wrench back on the hold … the camera would zoom in tight sometimes on both men sweating and pouring on the muscle!

Now the headlock is a hold that has somewhat fallen out of favor in preference to “high-flyers.” Damn.

Bulging Biceps, Chests, Pecs ! A face showing strain, and Pleasure, as the Headlock is being worked. A face showing pain-confusion-being the one on the receiving end of a Tight Headlock. ALL GOOD !! It’s all in the “selling” of it….and by the looks of the above pictures posted…The many of these Pros, know their craft and make many of us, Love Pro Wrestling, all that much more !!
