Strife of Riley, 7 of 7

Back in February 2013, I began a series of articles about Alex Riley, focusing on his in-ring humiliation and the ruination of his career in pro wrestling (he had allegedly mouthed off to John Cena, so I figured he was doomed.)  My goal was to post seven articles on the topic.

Soon after my series began, the promoters forced A-Ry to cover up that amazing physique with a suit and tie and exiled him behind the announcer table (except for a brief stint as a jobber back in March which enabled me to create article #6 of 7 in my series.)  Now Alex has vanished from sight.  The wrestling database at ProfightDB.com shows his last match was in April 2015 against Sami Zayn.

I feared I may never get to complete the seventh and final article in my series, but one of my favorite wrestling bloggers — Tetsuya who runs the He is Out! blog — has come to the rescue by featuring Alex in the role of jobber to this big bald beast — Lord Tensai!

So for my final article on the Strife of Riley, I will tag team with Tetsuya and combine his fantastic images and animations with some of my own. This was Lord Tensai’s debut match from April 2012, and the entire 5-minute beat-down is available on YouTube.

This being his first match in WWE, Tensai wants to demonstrate his omnipotence.  Right after the opening bell, he mauls Riley, head-butting the pretty-boy repeatedly like a hammer pounding in a nail.  (This animation is my work.  I added Batman-style sound words to convey the solid impact of these cruel Headbutts.)

Next, Tensai hoists Alex over-head to demonstrate his strength advantage and to get a good look at Alex’s tightly spandexed ass.  When he’s finished molesting his Boy-Toy, he slams the jobber on his back, and Alex sells the fuck out of his agony.

Tetsuya created this beautiful clip of crushing Elbow Smashes.  We see Alex sprawled out in the center of the ring like a juicy filet on a dinner plate.  Tensai drops his bulk again and again on that helpless body, the clip repeating as if he crushed Alex dozens of times.

A recap of Alex’s career in my past galleries will reveal the utter humiliation of this Young Hopeful by numerous dominant men:

After ending his Bromance with The Miz in April 2012, we saw Alex punished and then abandoned by his former BFF and mentor — like a goodbye kick to the curb.

Alex then tried to form a Bromance with fellow White Meat Baby-Face Derrick Batemen, but the rough Heels, Kassius Ohno (aka Chris Hero) and Leo Kruger (aka Adam Rose), ripped the pretty-boys apart which nipped their relationship in the bud.

Smaller Jobbers-to-the-Stars then had their way with Riley, defeating and out-wrestling the stud.  We saw Corey Graves put Riley in a sexy Leglock, then Heath Slater choked him out, and Cody Rhodes locked him in all sorts of Scissors and Nelsons.

Next it was Sandow’s turn to dominate Riley.  He called our football hero “incompetent” and then proved his point by turning cartwheels after knocking Riley out.  Conor O’Brien then made Riley tap in an embarrassing Leg-Behind-His-Neck hold.

Riley then hid behind a desk for a while, unable to face more male aggression and public abuse.  He was safe there until Kevin Owens poured water on his head to goad him into a fight, which resulted in Riley degraded and destroyed yet again.

And now we see Lord Tensai in the WWE ring for the first time, yet still able to crush the veteran A-Ry and leave him broken in the ring.

New Heel wrestlers are presented as brutal Unstoppable Forces when they first appear, utterly devastating their jobbers.  Of course Alex — the Whipping Boy of the WWE — was selected as Tensai’s first victim.

Lord Tensai’s nuclear weapon is this Choke Power Slam which left Riley stunned and defeated between his thighs.

The ref had mercy on Alex at this point and called for the bell.  Alex is seen as not simply beaten, but having to be saved like a bitch.

After the match, Tensai shows us another powerful weapon in his arsenal.  He clamps on the Von Erich Iron Claw and proceeds to put his defeated opponent to sleep in his grasp.  All of Alex’s opponents seem to enjoy giving him an extra dose of degradation.

Tetsuya’s blog, He Is Out!, focuses on wrestlers being put to sleep or knocked out cold, so I sort of figured this is how Alex would end up.  I think the only person gullible and foolish enough to NOT foresee this post-match attack would be Alex Riley himself.

And this is how my Strife of Riley series ends, with Alex snoozing at his Lord’s feet.  This is how I prefer to remember this hapless hottie who started his career so brash and over-confident, and ended up serving as every opponent’s toy ragdoll.

Special thanks to my tag team partner Tetsuya for his amazing gallery of images from this match and for providing the link to the match on YouTube.

I guess the moral of the story is Don’t piss off John Cena. And it’s impossible when you get slotted as a jobber to be taken seriously as a major star afterwards (see: Roma, Paul). Still it have to wonder if he enjoys the position. Suffering in front of everyone, getting attention as the sacrificial lamb to the latest Unstoppable Heel. It’s got to be quite a workout, being flung around the ring and twisted up like that for 20 minutes. He must enjoying some part of it, eh?

Backstage politics in wrestling are both fascinating and frustrating to me. Alex Riley should’ve worked to develop a social media following like Zack Ryder. From what I’ve read, it’s the thing that’s kept ZR around.

Glad you were able to finish your series especially when it looked like he would be
“benched” permanently. A-Ry deserves this finish as much as you, but hopefully there will be more to come in his career. What a great finish against such a brutal opponent; Albert was always great at being sadistic. Glad Riley is back to short hair; the longer hair with Kevin Owens earlier this year made him look a bit bedraggled, like he was a drunk or stoner

Would LOVE to see more of Riley, it’s so frustrating!

    And…welcome back! Somehow I didn’t realize sooner–sorry about that!
