Feud of the Year, part 2 of 3

As mentioned earlier this week, a feud erupted this summer between “Last Real Man” Silas Young and this flamboyant peacock, Dalton Castle.   The blatant homo-erotic antics of Castle and his two male slaves known as his “Boyz” offend the conservative redneck in Silas Young.  On the 8/19/15 episode of ROH, the two enemies faced off shirtless in the ring to settle their differences like real (gay) men.

To recap their tension, a video clip shows what happened during a recent  Pay-Per-View altercation between Silas and the Boyz.  Apparently the Boyz degraded the kneeling Real Man with a grinding Straddle-N-Ride, which caused him to ruthlessly Gay Bash them as any closeted homo-sexual would.

The sub-text behind this encounter is that Silas, in his ultra-skimpy black speedo, may secretly enjoy his time in the ring with these two playful Boyz.  And maybe his reaction of pleasure, his craving for more of their abuse, caused him to explode in rage and Gay Panic.

A brutal Knee Knocker disorients Dalton.

In the current fight, Young works out his homo-phobic issues by punishing Castle in the flamboyant silver trunks and white booties. Young is perhaps more brutal than he would be against a “straight” opponent.

Here he grabs the hair and presses Castle’s cheek against his metal knee-brace, stomping his foot.  The shockwave renders Castle dazed and vulnerable.  Each time Castle is assaulted, his loyal Boyz fan him with their peacock feathers to energize him, as the all-male audience gleefully chants “Fan Up!

Silas shows us all how "Real Men" fight.

One of the commentators exclaims “What a BRUTE!” when Young rakes his nails down Castle’s bare back, and Castle sells the fuck out of his agony with a sexy back-bend.

But a back scratch is not actually a move we would expect from a “Real Man.”  Using one’s nails is a cat-fight move.  This sort of attack reveals Young to be, not a “Real Man,” but a sissy at heart — a closeted bitch.  Scratching one’s nails down a man’s back usually occurs in more intimate settings between lovers, not fighters.

Several times, the action spills out of the ring and we get nice close-ups of the bodies and bulges exhibited by these rivals.

The Boyz fan their Master, Dalton Castle, and distract Silas Young. We get the impression that Young is not just “distracted” by the fan-waving, but also by the Boyz’ allure — their potential fulfillment of his hidden desires.

The battle see-saws between Young inflicting violent punishment on his flashy and sassy opponent, and Castle regaining the upper hand thanks to his Boyz seductive poses which captivate “Real Man” Silas Young.

Young tries to finish Castle off with his “Killer Combo” move (sweet name for a wrestling maneuver!)   He applies an Over-the-Knee Backbreaker followed immediately by a crushing Forearm Smash across the chest.

The Boyz then climb onto the ring apron, waving their fans to awaken the dazed Dalton Castle.  Of course Silas runs at the Boyz rather than pinning Castle, utterly drawn to them and perhaps “outing” himself by trying to catch them before they can disappear.

With Young distracted, Castle is able to attack from behind, hoisting the Real Man onto his shoulders in this provocative Thighs-Around-My-Ears position.  He spins around several times to disorient his victim, then slams Young down onto his dick to emasculate and stun him.

Castle easily rolls up Young for the victory — his success attributable to his effective Male-Male-Male relationship with the Boyz.

The match stirs up questions about gender and masculinity.  How can Young be a “Real Man” if he was beaten by a sissy?  If a Real Man is a winner, then is Dalton Castle the new epitome of the Ideal Male?  Is Castle truly a “Real Man” if he needs help from his Boyz?  Is masculinity still the icon of power and strength, or are “Real Men” no longer in control?

The angry Silas Young grabs a microphone and the conversation becomes really homo-erotic:

Dalton Castle, I don’t like what you’re doing with these boys!  I don’t like your lifestyle you lead with them.  These boys need to learn to be men!

You ain’t good enough to beat me on yours own.  You can never beat me on your own.    So one more shot! When I beat you, I get those boys.

And believe me, I am gonna beat you.  And when I get those boys, those boys are gonna be MINE!  And I’m gonna teach ’em how to be Real Men! Time’s coming boys — you’re coming home!

Anyone will admit, this was a gay, gay, gay speech, delivered by the self-proclaimed “Last Real Man” in wrestling.  If Young is truly repulsed by Castle and his Boyz, why does he want to involve himself in their lifestyle, to assert ownership of the Boyz?  Is Young indeed “outing” himself by expressing his desire to own the Boyz?  When they become his property, what exactly does he mean that he will teach them to be “Real Men”?  Does that mean rough sex?  The whole bizarre situation has us interested to see what will happen if the sexually ambiguous Silas Young wins their next match and gets to do whatever he wants to Castle’s male sex slaves.  (By the way, if Castle wins, then Young must agree to serve as Castle’s newest, biggest Boy, which would be an equally entertaining outcome.)

Many bloggers and commenters picked up on the homo-erotic, homo-phobic themes in this situation, and they generally found the revelation that the “Last Real Man” may be a closet queen very entertaining and compelling.  This is an encouraging sign that the gay aspects of pro wrestling (and with it, the homo-sexual elements found in any man-on-man competition) are gaining notice, acceptance, and appreciation.

To be continued…
