Demolition Derby

The Can-Am Connection, Tom Zenk and Rick Martel, were the ideal 1980’s pretty-boy Tag Team.  They had clean white teeth, clean white trunks, and buff chesty physiques that made muscle worshippers’ eyes pop out of their heads.  Someone recently posted this match on YouTube featuring Zenk and Martel against the sadistic Heel team known as Demolition.

Oh fuck yeah – Demolition wearing their kinky S&M costumes — equal parts scary and sexy for a curious young wrestling fan watching this broadcast.  Is the audience aware that Demolition are dressed like a couple of horny leather masters cruising for some fresh meat to strap to a wooden cross in their dungeon basement?!

As usual, sexy young Tom Zenk is selected as the Face In Peril (FIP) while his partner, Rick Martel, waits to make the hot tag and rescue him.

Demolition show off their sadistic nature by hurting Zenk without mercy and seeming to really get off on it.  Here one of the Leather Daddies puts Zenk in a cruel strangulation or neck weakener with the helpless stud loosely gripping his arm in submission.

Some say Zenk over-sold, but I say it's just enough selling.

That body on Zenk was epic, looking spectacular in pure white gear as Demolition tortured him with the usual sadistic bullshit:  strangulation, back breakers, stiff blows to the throat, dirty double-team moves, etc.

Zenk knows his role as the muscular FIP, letting his hard body go limp, resting his swole arms on the ropes rather than defending himself, and flopping around like a fish out of water after every assault inflicted by the Leather Masters.

The appeal of the match is found in the tension we feel waiting for Zenk to finally make that Tag.  He reaches his limp arm pathetically toward his eager partner, but several feet (seems like several miles) keeps them separated.  The viewers are torn between wanting these heroic young bucks to succeed in making the Tag, and wanting that delicious punishment of Zenk to continue.

One of my pro wrestling kink boxes that this match ticked was the Matching Gear gimmick.  This is where two Tag Team partners publicly declare their homo-social bond by dressing identically, the villains usually in back gear and the heroes in white (check and check.)

Of course Zenk and Martel — with their big muscles, coal black hair, and bright white smiles — are almost identical enough to be brothers, which is why they were partnered together in the first place.  Demolition increases their look-alike status by painting their faces identically.  For some reason, that matchiness does it for me every time.

Another aspect of this match that made it fun to watch for wrestling fans with certain tastes was Zenk’s revealing white trunks.  He might as well be wearing his underwear the way that thin spandex showed off every bulge and bend.  Zenk seems to understand the fans’ interest in his crotch because he shows it to us frequently.

As if his in-ring humiliation isn’t degrading enough, Zenk is bum-rushed out to the floor like he does not belong in the same ring as Demolition.  Of course they kick him back down a few times when he tries to crawl back in.  Often a wrestler’s partner will help him get up and get back in the ring safely, but Martel utterly ignores Zenk, leaving him to suffer on the floor like a worthless piece of garbage.

Again Zenk is stretched out and put on display.

The most amazing and eye-catching pose occurred at 12:54 into the video when Zenk is draped over the ropes and bent backward for some Chest Hammering.  As he thrusts his hips out, Zenk’s big bulge is prominently displayed — it’s downright obscene!

Demolition must have realized the fans loved seeing Zenk’s infamous tool so clearly outlined in his clingy white trunks because they bend him in the same position twice more in a row.
