On the March 11 episode of Superstars (available on WWE Network), Zack Ryder entered the ring sporting a thick, manly beard. Whoa, that growth of facial hair just gave Zack a much more aggressive and dominant look, I dig it.
We’ll see if it helps him overcome his arrogant opponent, the beardless Miz.
But The Miz is not intimidated by Ryder’s werewolf look at all. He slaps on a nice Side Headlock as Ryder circles an arm submissively around his waist.
The growth of the beard has enhanced Ryder’s masculinity, but his trademark helplessness and suffering only serves to further enhance the apparent power and dominance of The Miz.
Zack is so darn lovable and charismatic that it’s compelling to watch him serving as a mere plaything for the cocky Miz. Here the Miz implements an impressive series of neck-breakers to drain the fight and aggression right out of his bearded opponent.
We get the sense that no matter what Ryder does, he can never pull off the dominant role. He has built up that breath-taking physique, gained the support of the crowd, and now grew a thick beard, but he still remains powerless against the perhaps less dedicated and hard-working Miz.
The Miz finishes off his victim with his rather humiliating Skull Crushing Finale move. He locks up the other man’s arms so he can’t break his fall, then basically trips the chump, forcing him to fall flat on his face.
Apparently Zack Ryder needs to think of some other way to man up. Maybe get some ink, dude.
