In honor of Saint Patty’s Day, let’s talk about Shamrock — specifically Ken Shamrock, seen here helpless and defeated between Triple H’s thighs.
Tatsuya, one of my favorite wrestling bloggers, recently featured these images of Shamrock‘s humiliating punishment at the hands of Triple H on the excellent “He Is Out” webpage.
I copied several of Tatsuya’s animations for this article (see below) plus added a few image captures of my own from the video of this match available on YouTube. The video was posted on the WWE YouTube channel after Zack Ryder selected it as one of his favorite matches — a man after my own heart!
And he thought the Octagon was the most dangerous place on Earth!
Shamrock came from the dangerous, bloody world of Ultimate Fighting, so he was already an icon of masculine power before becoming a wrestler. His impressive physique and chiseled good looks made him even more bonerific. I always had to catch my breath when I saw him looking all swole and confident strutting to the ring (especially when he wore his white trunks!)
In the squared circle, Triple H is the Alpha Dog.
Adding to his sex appeal was his prowess at submission holds. I recall getting turned on by the uber-masculine Shamrock in his skimpy speedos, destroying jobbers with his agonizing locks.
But Shamrock never rose to a dominant position in WWE. Instead, the big stars used him to enhance their own machismo by kicking his ass.
Is this clip in fast motion, or is that ref cheating??
For some unfair reason, Triple H’s female bodyguard Chyna was selected as the Special Guest Referee for this match.
Clearly Shamrock has no hope of winning when the ref is biased! He should just let Triple H pin him and get it over with, but Shamrock foolishly kicks out so the cheaters can harm him some more.
Wait -- did the ref just help a wrestler reach the ropes?
Later Shamrock slaps on an effective MMA finishing hold, trying to snap Triple H’s ankle. But the dirty ref pulls the rope closer so her man can reach it!
She orders Shamrock to release his grip, but he rightly refuses. Then she grabs him, over-powers him, and forcibly removes Shamrock from her man. She is therefore shown to be much stronger than Shamrock both in her official authority as the referee, and in her physical power. This has to feel quite degrading for the Ultimate Fighter to be overpowered by a female, but this was his lot in the WWE — a stepping stone used by the other performers to assert their own power over this icon of masculinity.
You can't break an ankle if you can't see.
But Shamrock keeps fighting back, Real Man that he is. He later scissors Triple H’s leg between his thighs and hugs on another Ankle Breaker.
This is where the ref gets really nasty by clawing Shamrock’s eyes to force him to break the hold. Shamrock is again bested by a female, who uses a bitch tacking (eye scratching) to destroy him!
Helplessly blinded, Shamrock never saw it coming.
Triple H is an awesome Heel, I must admit. I always end up very entertained and aroused when I see him seize the advantage and just punish the bejesus out of some Good Guy as he does to poor Shamrock. And if Triple H is truly as slimy and ruthless backstage as they say, his dominating antics in the ring get me even more turned on.
Total emasculation of one of the manliest men in the world.
Triple H doesn’t just defeat his opponents, he utterly neuters and destroys them. He drops a knee to Shamrock’s baby makers while the ref covers her eyes to ignore the low blow.
Those tight little speedos Shamrock wears just add to his apparent vulnerability, his nuts just asking to be cracked.
Apparently Shamrock is still active in the sport of MMA. Last month he fought his old rival, Royce Gracie (who always defeats him.)
Ironically, Gracie beat Shamrock (yet again) by kneeing him in the gonads just like Triple H did here years ago. Why does everyone want to bust this man’s balls? Is it because he is so tuff and masculine acting?
Now Triple H can do whatever he wants to Shamrock.
Shamrock is neutered, not by a man, but by a woman.
Again Shamrock tries to fight back, and again the dirty ref emasculates him. She delivers her trademark Forearm to the Balls and one of the strongest men on the planet drops to his knees.
The fact that his manhood was utterly terminated by a female only adds to Shamrock’s apparent humiliation.
The Ultimate Fighter becomes the Ultimate Ragdoll.
This match reveals the truth about Shamrock — about all men and the concept of masculinity: he is actually very fragile.
The masculine ideal is to act stoic, impenetrable, pain-resistant, and aggressive. But here we see even the Ultimate Fighter is vulnerable, and women aren’t as passive and delicate as we thought either!
A final act of emasculation: Shamrock's legs are spread to reveal his busted nuts.
Hey those shiny red tights on Triple H are pretty sexy too. Here he assumes the man’s position on top, opening Shamrock’s legs so we can see the damage inflicted by himself and Chyna on poor Shamrock’s groinal area.
How satisfying to see a confident, muscular, handsome Alpha Male utterly used and abused.
Kudos to Triple H and Chyna for enacting the emasculation of the Ultimate Fighter, and to Tatsuya for making me aware of this entertaining video on his blog.
Great match and commentary…you are right…Chyna and HHH were both intimidated by Shamrock’s masculinity and decided to unfairly go after the source of it.
