Yesterday I apologized to a reader I had mistakenly blocked from this site because I mistook him for a malicious computer Bot. To make up for his inconvenience, I’ve uploaded a Japanese tag team match to YouTube (part 1 and part 2) featuring his favorite wrestler: Ricky Steamboat, early in his career in Japan. For this bout, Ricky and his partner Chavo wear old-school full-assed blue trunks made of thick spandex with tall white boots — I love that look on Baby-Face teams.
The opponents for Team Blue Trunks are these veteran masked Luchadores — Mil Mascaras in the purple mask and Dos Caras with his trademark falcon on the face of his golden mask. I worship kinky, flamboyant masks like that — the more sparkly and garish, the better.
Ricky plays the Worthless Muscle for most of the match. Here we see Dos Caras in those spectacular metallic boots riding on Ricky’s back like he is a beast of burden.
This move is meant to both humiliate and harm our cute young protagonist, his chin locked in the masked man’s grasp like a bridle on a horse.
The theme of the match is the superior talent of these ring-hardened Mexican journeymen. They “No Sell” all of Ricky’s offense and demonstrate advanced techniques using fancy footwork such as this Flipping Ankle Scissor — a popular move south of the border. Young Ricky is made to appear green, powerless, over-whelmed, and utterly out-wrestled by the veterans.
The entire match was over 35 minutes long with several slow parts — like when Ricky’s partner was in the ring and not even suffering.
So I edited it down to the best 18 minutes, cutting out unhot parts and focusing on Ricky’s in-ring moments of glorious helplessness and groaning agony.
For example, this long Surfboard at 3:00 into the first video, with Ricky on his knees, his powerful arms wrenched back, was just jaw-dropping.
You should hear Ricky’s loud orgasmic groans of protest each time his arms are snapped back like the reins on an unruly horse: “NO!… Oh!… Owwww!… Noooo!”
Take a good look at Mil Mascaras — talk about beefy/ muscular! His body always seemed extra wide to me, like his shoulders shouldn’t be set that far apart and his pecs shouldn’t ride that high on his ribs.
He would often suck in his gut when he posed, which made his ribcage and upper chest seem even more massive. He was built to Bearhug. Looking at his body makes me crave seeing him squeeze some fool.
Sure enough, at 5:19 into the second video, Mascaras slaps on this brief Bearhug. His freakishly wide chest easily milks the fight out of the muscle-boy in blue. We get the sense that Steamboat may look buff, but Macaras embodies true manly strength in a body forged by hard labor and heavy lifting.
A sweaty, embattled Steamboat sexualizes his pain by tossing his head around and groaning loudly. My only regret is the fleeting shortness of the hold. I prefer Bearhugs to linger on for 5 minutes at least!
For the Japanese fans, their enjoyment is enhanced by the ethnicity of the combatants. Ricky is half Asian — the only participant with native blood. The fans naturally favor him over these foreigners, especially the two beasts in the creepy, kinky masks.
Witnessing their fragile young countryman being beaten and hurt stirs up their feelings of concern, compassion, and outrage — all of which can lead to arousal. Most Japanese pro wrestling matches from this era featured foreigners vs. native heroes.
A recurring theme of the match is the power in the Heel’s spectacular golden boots, which frequently figure into Ricky’s suffering. For example, see above when Mascaras pressed his Boot of Power into Ricky’s upper back to give his Surfboard extra ouch. Below the camera fetishizes that shiny footwear with some close-up views of their interlocked legs in a series of clever Legbone Busters.
Eventually Ricky makes the tag and his (foreign) partner Chavo is beaten down, back-broken, and pinned. After all, we can’t have the 0ne Japanese participant being defeated in front of a Japanese audience.
We then get some nice post-match intimacy between the partners, with Mil giving Dos a big chesty embrace, and Ricky giving Chavo a neck rub.
Well Scott, I hope this posting makes up for being blocked from this site. Thanks for the inspiration — I enjoy this style of wrestling too and I agree that Ricky was boner inspiring. Let me know if you want me to block your access for another year or two so you can qualify for another custom gallery of your choice.
This is a great gallery…..one of your best. As an avid fan of your work, a gallery on my favorite Japanese wrestler, Akiyama Jun, would be greatly appreciated……as is all of your hard work.
