On the August 1st episode of Raw, they put champ Seth Rollins in the ring with challenger Finn Balor so the two men could flirt for a long time and build heat for their upcoming match at Summer Slam. They performed a sexually tense, flirtatious stare-down, where they stand about four millimeters apart, gaze into each other’s eyes, and utter all sorts of suggestive threats and comments. It was really nice.
Rollins is portraying the cocky bully — threatening, obnoxious, conceited. Finn Balor meanwhile looks so darn cute and sincere with those steel gray eyes and that boyish face.
They lick their lips, they squint their eyes, they get in each other’s faces, the tension builds. They were basically given 10 minutes to get everyone excited about their match on August 21st.
I know it worked on me. I can’t wait for Summer Slam now to see what they do to each other. Between the abuse we know Randy Orton is going to suffer (see yesterday’s article) and now Rollins and Balor getting all worked up, I must say I am getting more excited for Summer Slam than I have for any of their Big Events in a long time. These guys are so good at what they do, I can’t resist.
Like any good stare down, you can’t tell if they’re about to fight or fuck. I dig their beards. I dig that long hair on the bully.
I dig how they pause for a moment just staring each other down, nobody blinking, nobody backing down. Just kiss already! We can tell you’re into each other.
Here is a poster hyping their August 21st match — with the opponents positioned to emphasize their muscular torsos and prominent abdominals. Their contest will establish one of them as the “Universal Champion.”
I like how these lean dudes are competing to become “Universal Champion.” I searched for their stats and Seth is 6’1″, 205 pounds while Finn is 5’11”, 190 pounds (although some sources say he weighs 10 pounds less.) It used to be that a wrestler had to be over 250 pounds to even be considered for the Intercontinental Championship.
Nice chemistry. They are really taking time to stoke up the heat between these two Indy wrestling legends, to build a relationship between them. This bodes well for their upcoming match — I bet it will be a hot one. I’ll write about it here and post a bunch of images showing Finn Balor in total agony in case you miss it.
Get a room you two!
After building heat for a good ten minutes, boasting and threatening with their chests nearly touching, they eventually boil over. Seth attacks the cute upstart, but Finn is ready for him and kicks him soccer-style in the head.
They didn’t rip their shirts off though or slam poor Finn through any tables, so I didn’t bother making images of their melee. For me, the heat was in the stare-down. Sorry if I bored you with too many images of this scene but it got inside my head. They did a great job with it.
