I’ve always had certain favorite wrestlers that I craved to see on every episode of wrestling. Right now, in NXT, my Go To Guys are these two Australian studs — Nick Miller and Shane Thorne from the oddly-named Tag Team: TM-61.
As I’ve probably mentioned a half-dozen times on this Blog already, I especially enjoy seeing the inked partner, Thorne, playing the suffering Face-in-Peril. So I was happy to see my boys entering the ring on the 9/7/16 episode of NXT on the WWE Network.
TM-61’s opponents are two bearded young studs you are probably familiar with if you get off on hot dudes on the modern Indy scene: Tony Nese and Ariya Davari.
Myself and my fellow wrestling bloggers have featured both Nese and Daivari in many articles singing their praises.
Shane Thorne and Nick Miller dominate the early minutes — they are the established Tag Team after all with years of experience working together. But the fun starts when Tony Nese decides to fight dirty — here jabbing his fingers up into Thorne’s throat to ragdoll him.
Time for Thorne to entertain us with his trademark poses of agony and woe. Clearly the promoters and wrestlers are well aware that everybody gets off on seeing a hot guy like Thorne in agony and woe because they do it all the time.
Playing the Heels, the Cruiserweights never miss an opportunity to Double-Team poor Shane.
The boys from Team TM-61 are no longer wearing matching trunks, with Shane now in orange and Nick in blue. Is this a signal that their partnership is failing and they’re no longer a strongly bonded pair?
I am falling in love with Tony Nese as the powerful Heel with his swole body and mean-looking black beard. What a Bad-Ass!
Here he hoists Thorne up in Suplex position, but Thorne tries to resist. So the Big Man simply beasts him up again and drops him across the top rope to punish him for daring to resist.
Check out Nick Miller emoting in the background, dreading the utter destruction of his partner taking place before his eyes.
Daivari is also very impressive. He snaps off these awesome, exaggerated Elbow Smashes down on Thorne’s chest. Also, check out this gorgeous flying Frog Splash off the top rope, totally crushing pretty-boy Thorne. GREAT!
Nese and Daivari are using this opportunity to make names for themselves by killing TM-61. If they can beat down this experienced team, they clearly belong in WWE. I am sure sold — please sign these two studs to the NXT roster now!
As with most TM-61 matches, Thorne eventually reaches the hot tag and Nick Miller kicks ass. After all, these guys were once a dominant team known as “The Mighty Don’t Kneel!”
Both TM-61 dudes then work together to finish off their competition. They call this devastating double team maneuver the High-Low.
TM-61 finish off Davari with their patented “Thunder Valley” move — essentially hoisting him high over their heads, then driving the back of his skull into the mat to stun him. This is fine — I am OK with TM-61 winning matches on two conditions:
(1). that we get to watch Thorne suffer outrageous abuse for most of the match, and…
(2). that the studs they defeat like Nese and Daivari don’t get fired from WWE for losing.
