I’ve always liked buff and beautiful Davey Richards and I’ve always liked the dashingly handsome Roderick Strong, so I knew I had to re-post these animations I found on Tumblr from one of their classic Trunks N Boots matches when they were both so young and cute-faced.

There is something enticing about two wrestlers of similar size and shape squaring off, and one of them takes full one-sided control over the other. It’s as if the loser maybe wants to be beaten — not resisting even though the dominant stud is no larger than him.

But whoever created these animations (a man after my own heart) only focused on the scenes featuring Davey’s handsome visage twisted into expressions of agony and pain.

What Roderick Strong match would be complete without some of his patented Over-the-Knee Spinal Slams? They used to refer to Roddy as the “Messiah of the Backbreaker” — a nickname that always made it twitch whenever I heard someone say it.
Buff dudes who are also submissive are the hottest.
The sweat glistens on their bare torsos as they take the fight outside the ring. Davey keeps his arm glued to the metal railing at ringside as if he is hand-cuffed there, just letting Roderick tee off on his chest.
I always notice and appreciate a pro wrestler who keeps his arms draped over or behind something, willingly exposing his body to more punishment.
Don’t submit yet Davey — we’re enjoying your pain too much.
Roddy says something to Davey as he tries to twist his head off. You could always tell — even when they were utterly torturing each other — that Davey and Roddy had good chemistry.
They used to be Tag Team partners in their earliest days in the ring, and that brotherly bond sticks. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re both good looking dudes which just adds to the tension between them.
Davey gets broke again.
Roddy goes back to his bread and butter, harming Davey with another Over-the-Knee Back-Breaker Slam. Roddy seems to have a mean streak, he always seems a little fired up and angry.
You just know he’s gonna hurt you if you don’t get out of his way. This makes everyone fear him a little and respect him a lot. Those are the most convincing pro wrestlers: the mean ones with an attitude.
Unffff! Davey proves to be no match for Mr. Strong.
