Here are some great photos I found recently from a local Indy show held in New Jersey on 9/18/16.
You may recognize the buzzed-hair guy in the black t-shirt as WWE super-star Adam Rose (now “Aldo Rose.”) I was not aware Rose had left WWE, but it’s always nice to find these great athletes classing up the Indy scene.
I did not often write about Rose in the WWE because they gave him a silly party-boy gimmick, surrounded by freaks called the “Rosebuds.”
As often happens in WWE and mainstream media in general, masculine sex appeal is toned down through humor and humiliation of the spectacular male.
I did feature Rose when he first entered NXT as a wild-game hunter known as “Leo Kruger.” That gimmick had serious sex appeal, so I posted an article called “Beater” on 4/5/13 in which Kruger dominated pretty-boy Justin Gabriel
Kruger also partnered with Chris Hero (then known as Kassius Ohno) in a dominant Heel Team that punished all the cute little Babyfaces including Tyson Kidd, Oliver Gray, and Alex Riley (in the very first of my seven “Strife of Riley” articles.) My first article about Leo Kruger was a 7/11/12 article called “Lion Man” which noted his animal magnetism.
“Too Hot” Steve Scott works the Selfie Gimmick where he pauses in the middle of the fight to pull out his cell phone and snap photos of his arrogant dominance. This silliness is meant to lampoon the self-obsession of the Selfie Generation, but there also may be a sexual undertone to this act. Those of us who know the pornographic potential of wrestling photos get the sense that Scott may want these photos on his phone for future enjoyment, gratifying himself by reviewing scenes of his dominance over a major star in the industry.
Aldo Rose is apparently working the lollipop gimmick where he brings some phallic candy to the ring to jam into his opponent’s mouth. We’ve seen Joey Ryan do this often, transferring the sucker from mouth to mouth to imply intimacy. Rose uses the sucker as a symbol of sexual dominance, with obvious homo-erotic implications as Steve Scott holds the lollipop between his lips, utterly submissive to the dominant Alpha Male.
Rose seems to enjoy this pinning position used to defeat Steve Scott, the opponent’s ankles up near his ears as he drives his hips into the helpless man’s hamstrings. He used the same suggestive position to dominate Justin Gabriel in my “Beater” article, see below.

But Rose was not finished stuffing that sweet candy in his helpless opponent’s mouth. He re-inserts the lollipop and snaps some naughty photos, with Scott accepting the other man’s candy, wrapping his lips obediently around the shaft.
This is one advantage Indy wrestling has over the Big Show – they can get more sexually explicit and raunchy.
