In Episode 8 of my favorite cartoon of all time (i.e., Tiger Mask W), we learn the outrageous fate of the wrestler known as Odin, who was defeated by Tiger Mask in Episode 1.
It’s easy to recognize Odin from his oddly bushy eyebrows. He is the hot-headed member of Tiger’s Den who punched young Naoto in the face and told him to shut up when they were watching a match from ringside.
Odin’s punishment for losing to Tiger Mask was a “Tiger’s Execution.” This means he must submit to all the other Tiger’s Den wrestlers and let them practice their killer moves on him.
The scene takes place in a cage, which adds a sense of bondage and captivity for Odin. We get the sense that he can’t just walk away. Like a cult, Tiger’s Den is keeping him locked up so the trainees can use and abuse him.
It wasn’t really clear to me whether we are supposed to feel sorry for Odin for suffering this painful and humiliating fate, or whether we should feel that he deserves to be punished after he was cruel to our hero. He does have a spectacular body and is drawn to appear nearly naked, so in the more twisted regions of our brains, we are digging him in the Worthless Enslaved Jobber role.
I think our take-away from this torture scene is just that these Tiger’s Den members are some evil and heartless people. If they can get you in their clutches, they’ll lock you in a cage and wrestle you to death. This is getting freaky.
Note to self: never talk back to the coach.
Odin: Wait… Let me take a break…
Coach: You don’t get to make demands under a Tiger’s execution. Get up! (Kicks him in the fucking skull.)
Other trainee: I’m next. (Grabs Odin’s wrist.)
We’ve seen these other Tiger’s Den trainees before. The blond guy leaning on the ropes is “Kevin” — Tiger the Dark defeated him back in Episode 4.
The stud with the brown wavy hair and goatee is named Mike, and he is often seen with Kevin. When Kevin was trounced by Tiger the Dark, Mike rushed over and rested a hand on his bare chest. Are we meant to understand they’re a couple?
Why are the cute ones always so brutal?
The scene has a sadistic tone, like dungeon bondage porn. If I had watched this naughty cartoon when I was a teen, I’d sure have a wealth of colorful and inappropriate wrestling-related fantasies in the spank bank of my brain. The producers of this cartoon sure know how to mind-fuck their horny young viewers!
Why get up? They’re just going to knock you down again.
I don’t think I like this brown-haired bully Mike (even if he is a handsome devil.) He is just being brutal now, sucker-punching Odin the instant he gets on his feet.
I hope to see my hero Tiger Mask making this mean bully suffer at some point.
The situation gets even kinkier and more erotic when chesty Miss X enters the picture. Odin asks when his punishment will stop, and Miss X replies that he will have to first survive the “Devil’s Hole.” I don’t know what that is, but it sounds very rapey and painful.
So Odin begs for mercy and Miss X brings out her bullwhip, clutching it firmly in her manicured fingers like it’s a big cock. The scene fades to black and we hear the crack of the whip along with Odin’s pathetic screams.
Wow — I hope they take us behind the scenes at Tiger’s Den more in future episodes!
