Tiger Mask vs. The Texan

Call me a cartoon geek, but I’ve fallen in love with the Tiger Mask cartoons that are posted on YouTube.  I feel like that pathetic Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons, but I don’t care — this stuff is good.  The cartoonists and writers push all my buttons with these violent, dramatic episodes.

I sure wish they had Tiger Mask on television here in the states when I was growing up (although, if they did, I’d be even more obsessed with pro wrestling than I already am.)

Allow me to summarize in bullet points some of the elements of the Tiger Mask vs. Texan match that I really dig:

  • Classic wrestling holds like Leglocks and Headlocks
  • White wrestling gear
  • Tons of bare flesh and body contact
  • Focus on the musculature and entanglement of legs
  • Great physiques on display in pro gear
  • Friend/partner at ringside nervously watching the action
  • Two words: Body Scissors

After applying some nice (although basic) holds at the beginning of the match, the Texan turns out to be a bit of a jobber.  I guess the all-white gear was a give-away.  Is this meant to be some sort of comment on America or American wrestlers — that we’re no match for the likes of Tiger Mask?  We also learn that the wrestler Tiger Mask is a complex character and will deliver a smack-down jobber squash beating when he gets in the mood.

You can check out Part 1 and Part 2 of this exciting episode on YouTube.
