I was excited to see Matt Striker return to wrestling a couple years ago on West Coast Wrestling Connection, which I follow on YouTube. However, I never blogged about the revival of his wrestling career (until now) because ever since returning to the ring, he has worn — brace yourself — the dreaded Board Shorts!
Striker was known among certain wrestling fans for his revealing and colorful jobber-style trunks, which really showed off his buns n bulge. By switching to Bored Shorts, he went from one of the best dressed wrestlers to one of the worst!
Once an exhibitionist, always an exhibitionist.
However, on the 3/4/17 episode of WCWC, Striker surprised me by entering the ring in these snug red trunks with his name in bold white letters across the back. HERE is the show-off we knew and loved! Where have you been all these years, Big Guy?
One of my fellow wrestling lover’s also noticed this gear revival and commented under the video:
“Striker is finally wearing hot trunks.” Oh, you noticed that, BHUG3996? Yeah, I noticed that too.
Gangrel wastes little time before reaching in for a big handful.
Striker is wrestling another former WWE Superstar — the vampire Gangrel. Maybe the reason Striker dug out these ten-year-old trunks from the bottom of his underwear drawer is because his opponent is an old friend from his Glory Days in the WWE. Hopefully, however, he will decide to keep wearing briefs instead of Board Shorts from now on!
Ref, don’t you DARE get in between the camera and those trunks!
Beginning in July 2005 (wow, 12 years ago?!?), I’ve written about and posted images of Striker in his spectacular gear several times. My best tribute to the Man and his Trunks was probably a long review of Striker’s matches against CM Punk which I posted to my old website in June 2009.
In his matches with Punk, Striker wore black & white argyle, then argyle with pink, then ice blue, then banana yellow, then Stars n Stripes, and finally a black pattered pair.
I love a man with great taste in wrestling trunks and an impressive collection of various colors and styles. And Striker knows how to wear them.
How could you NOT elbow it at some point in the match?!
Here is a comment in praise of Striker’s gear choices that one of my loyal readers posted to my 1/10/15 Tee & Trunks gallery:
“*sigh* Man I really miss Matt Striker the wrestler. He always wore the most vibrant, jobber-ific trunks possible. If staring at that bulge got me detention, I’d do it all class long and then I’d spend all of detention staring at it too!”
Of COURSE Gangrel attacks the area we’ve been staring at for the past 5 minutes.
In spite of his jobbery appearance, Striker is actually playing the arrogant, cheating Heel over the vampire. Striker dominates most of the match, punishing Gangrel’s legs.
Eventually Gangrel emasculates Striker by dropping him buns-first across a knee, further wedging the red spandex up the crack and busting Striker’s ass.
The tight red spandex offers little padding against this knee to the nuts.
And then Striker is ball-busted for a final humiliation. Of course that huge bulge he’s been sticking in our faces must be destroyed. He then bends over clutching his shattered balls.
So let me welcome Mr. Striker back to the world of wrestling trunks, and let me conclude with some predictable career advice for him… NO more Board Shorts. YES keep wearing trunks. You look awesome and I’m sure you know it.
Ah, Matt Striker! Such a great jobber and one of my personal favs in the 2000s. I like everything about him, how he sold the pain and humiliation. This was the guy who was fed worms directly from Boogeyman’s mouth TWICE! Wish you’d have included those clips, but there’s aways YouTube!
I got to agree that it is great to see Matt Striker back and looking like he needs to look… (on the other hand, I hope WCWC can throw some better opponents at him because “I” have no use for “Gangrel”).
I was talking with a bud about this the other day. I remember “Battle of the Network TV Stars” in the 80s where the celebrities unabashedly wore speedos : Tom Selleck, Adrian Zmed, John James (Dynasty hunk). These days if they brought it back they’d all be in board shorts. “Dreaded” is right.
Matt Striker in trunks is such a stud! Love that guy!

Awesome, thanks for sharing this match! Matt Striker was always one of my favorites and he still looks as amazing as he did 10 years ago. His colorful trunks and how well he filled them out (front and back) were a frequent highlight back when he was with WWE. I loved how his already revealing gear would often ride up in the back and how he would usually just leave it there for the duration of the match. It’s almost like he wanted to draw our eyes to his beautiful ass. The stud definitely knows how to please his fans. I hope his switch back to trunks is permanent!
