Here are some images of male dominance that I found surfing around my Social Media links one day. The sheer abundance of these compelling scenes reveals the true reason people love pro wrestling — because it celebrates masculinity, power, control, and the right of the Alpha Male to stand with his boot on a weaker man’s neck.
Check out Eli Drake with his swole body looming over the subservient Robbie E. The blatant power imbalance sexualizes the scene, implying that the dominant male can do whatever he wants to the beaten man (with the beaten man permitting it.) Maybe it’s because they’re so good looking and they wrestle half undressed that these power poses take on an erotic flavor.
Looking butch in his jeans, Batista clamps some jobber’s neck between his inner thighs and just holds him in that denim vise for a moment, allowing the audience to savor this scene of utter mastery. Batista has been well-trained, because he clearly understands that these demonstrations of one-sided domination are like pornography to many wrestling lovers in the audience.
You may have thought this ripped hottie would play the jobber, given his good looks and pretty pink trunks. But no — according to these images, the buff dude utterly squashed his submissive masked opponent.
Instead of the destruction of the spectacular male, the audience is treated to a display of strength, power, and Alpha Male ownership. I’m sure many of them went home and re-played the match in their heads.
Eddie Guerrero emasculates himself by dropping to his knees and kissing the boot of the dominant Dean Malenko. (Malenko probably gets that a lot.) I’m sure that Eddie knows the effect his display of weakness is having on the viewing audience’s libido. For a tough stud like him to degrade himself like this before Malenko, to kiss the other man’s boot like a slave, to hand over all the power to the stronger male, is a big turn on.
