The Bearded Stud in the Purple Trunks

Back on May 12th, I posted a Trunks Appreciation gallery that included the following unidentified wrestler giving us a big Thumbs Up:

This article prompted two comments from my loyal readers, both inquiring about the identity of this grinning mystery-stud with his “shiny, innocent Baby-Face aura.”

One commenter reacted with simply a “DAY-YUMMMMMMMM!!” (that’s with a total of EIGHT letter M’s — I counted them.) The other commenter wrote: “He is gorgeous, and I must know who that is.“

Well I have good news, wrestling fans! Another loyal reader, JR, emailed me the name of this mystery man. JR recalled seeing that original Thumbs Up photo on Reddit — along with the wrestler’s name. It was posted on the sub-reddit WrestlingWithThePackage where drooling fans posts tons of hunky wrestler photos and discuss how hunky they look. I blogged about the WWTP sub-reddit back in September 2020.

Here is what JR wrote in his email to me:

“A couple of other commenters asked about the identity of the bearded stud in the purple trunks, and I just wanted to let you know that I believe his name is Robert Locke.

Here’s a link to his Instagram for a few more pics of him. It looks like he used to have longer hair, which doesn’t do as much for me, but he’s still pretty freaking hot either way. Feel free to share this intel so we can give your readers a new hunk to admire and follow 🙂

In doing my research on Robert Locke, I learned to my delight that he’s also part of a queer, campy Eye Candy Tag Team called Robby and Bobby in the MCW Wrestling federation.

You know Tag Team wrestling is my jam, so I searched on YouTube to find me some Robby+Bobby action and I found a nice 2017 match against the Hell Cats: Sexy Steve and Jimmy Starz (also a fairly queer sounding partnership. I mean, who here has not fantasized about a long night spent locked in a hotel room with a pair of sexy Hell Cats?!?)

I suppose this “Robby and Bobby” gimmick is poking fun at the Pretty-Boy Tag Teams we jerked off to during the 1980s. Back then, the fit young partners would dress alike and often use childish forms of their given name, like “Tommy” or “Ricky” or “Jimmy.”

But I don’t care if these studs are actually lampooning the style of Tag Team wrestling I grew up on. I am still going to stare at their tight little speedo trunks and delight in their mid-match punishment.

The Hell Cats blatantly cheat to gain and keep control, as good Heels always do (loved it!) Bobby plays the Face-in-Peril — I kind of wish it had been our man Robby in the role of suffering stud instead, although he does look fantastic climbing the ropes in eager frustration, concerned about the welfare of his suffering partner.

Overall, the action is a bit too hokey and playful for my tastes, a bit too theatrical. I like my rasslin with more serious “realism” so my brain can suspend disbelief and let me get all aroused. However, there is no denying that Robby and Bobby are hotties and look great in their little purple trunks. They could even qualify to wrestle for our Underground video producers — someone should recruit them to do some wrestle-porn!

The Hell Cats continue to toy with Bobby like — well… — like a pair of cats toying with a half-dead mouse. Bobby spends a few agonizing minutes in a really nice Ab Stretch — a classic torture hold we don’t see too often nowadays…

Next the Cats act out that vintage Heel spot where they join hands with the Outside Partner pulling back to help the Inside Partner gain leverage and really stretch the suffering Face (albeit illegally). Their execution was a bit clumsy plus this article is getting a bit long, so I didn’t bother making a GIF of it. Check out the video on YouTube if you want to see more Bobby abuse.

So there you have it — a mystery solved thanks to the intrepid JR with his good eye for hot wrestlers. Keep an eye or two on this Robert (or “Robby”) Locke who attracted my gaze and several of my viewers’ gazes as well. He is certainly “a new hunk to admire and follow :-)”
