Rock Hard: Our Ring (1 of 2)

Rock Hard Wrestling is a producer of pro wrestling videos that you can download for a modest price.  Perhaps you’ve heard of them and sampled their wares.  They recently issued a really good Tag Team match called “Our Ring.”  This match definitely wins the Wrestling Arsenal Seal of Approval. I recommend you purchase the video, and I’ll give you 20 reasons why.

First of all, the wrestlers look great and talk tough.  One of my biggest hot buttons when it comes to Tag Team Wrestling is the trash talk.  I enjoy the little quips and insults that the opponents zing at each other in between (or during) their grappling sessions to insult and degrade the competition while promoting themselves.  Jake Jenkins and Austin Cooper — the dominant bad boy Tag Team in Rock Hard Wrestling — deliver a series of comments that really get inside their opponents’ heads (and this viewer’s head as well):

“This is OUR time in the ring, buddy!”

“You have no power, dude!  I’m taking it all from you!”

“Crank that shoulder!  He cranked mine, man!”

“Stretch him out!  Throw some punches in there!”

I like Tag Team wrestling, so you can bet I watched the other two Tag Team videos featuring the dynamic duo of Austin Cooper and Jake Jenkins — against Trent & Cliff and against Cliff & Nick.  Yes, these earlier matches are great to watch, but for the pickiest of wrestling fans like myself, the action was a bit disorganized: both teams using dirty tactics, the victim jumped up and tagged out a little too quickly, etc.  This latest match against lean pretty-boy jobbers Ethan & Jason really turns the corner for me.

You see, good Tag Team wrestling is mental. Yes, I need to see the basic elements of a ring, and pro style gear, and rough physicality, and bodies.  But to really trip my trigger, I need Ring Psychology — those subtle hints of sadism and blatant brutality that turn wrestling into Rasslin.  I’m talking about jobbers refraining from fighting back, endless tortuous holds, blatant dirty double-teaming, uncensored arrogance — if you love wrestling like I love wrestling, you know what I mean.

It appears to me the wrestlers of Rock Hard Wrestling have recently gotten a crash course in Ring Psychology 101, and it has definitely paid off.  Maybe they’re even studying this Blog to learn how to get inside wrestling fans’ heads.  That would make sense because this video pushes at least 20 of my Tag Team wrestling hot buttons as described in these images.

The Heels understand that they’re supposed to own the ring, and the Baby-Faces now get it that they’re supposed to fight valiantly and suffer beautifully, but fail miserably at putting the cocky bastards in their places.  YES!  Rock Hard Wrestling has had it’s “Aha Moment.”  Now you understand Pro Tag Team Rasslin — this is A+ work.

You were right – that Rock Hard match was the best for torture and suffering. Like squash matches like that one. And thanks for turning me on to a new wrestling site.

I’m waiting to see Austin paired against Cody Nelson. Plenty of opportunity for displayed suffering!
