A rookie Tag Team wrestler will just stand like a statue outside the ropes waiting his turn when he’s not in the ring. A more experienced wrestler understands that, even when watching the action from the corner, he bears some of the responsibility for entertaining and titillating us.
The Safe Partner needs to lean tensely on the ropes, bitch about the dirty tactics of his opponents, yell rude insults to the far corner, reach inside the ropes to pummel the victim when he gets too close, etc. The combatants in this match demonstrate that they know how to rassle both inside and outside of the ring.
