Once upon a time, there lived two wolves who loved to wrestle. With Eddie’s talent and cunning paired with Davey’s strength and confidence, they dominated the Tag Team scene in Ring of Honor for years.
The fans loved the unbeatable champions, and the two partners were prepared to live happily ever after.
Then one day, along came two hungry young wolves named Kyle and Adam. They were soon facing off against the Champs, striving against Davey and Eddie to learn their craft from the more experienced wolves, and to try to unseat them.
Davey soon took a shine to young Kyle, impressed with his intensity and raw talent. He took Kyle under his wing. The two began training together, and spending more time together. Soon, they were best friends, and even began living together.
This situation created a triangle between Davey, his long-time best friend Eddie, and his new best friend Kyle. Eddie and Kyle began competing for Davey’s affection and attention, even sharing dirt about one another to Davey to influence his feelings.
Eddie, meanwhile, was growing tired of living in Davey’s shadow. Determined to establish his own Alpha Wolf status, he began challenging his own partner, and frequently defeated Davey — calling into question which wolf was truly the Alpha.
This rivalry put further strain on their relationship.
Soon the rivalry and hatred between Eddie and Kyle boiled over, and the two faced off in the ring to determine which one would claim the ultimate prize: partnership with Davey. Kyle proved he wanted it more by defeating Eddie and earning the right to continue his interactions with Davey.
But what had become of Adam, who had been Kyle’s partner prior to Davey?? Understanding how it feels to be abandoned and left out in the cold, he soon forged a relationship with Eddie, and a complicated Love Quadrangle was in play.
Kyle was very impressed by Davey, who had been partners and friends for years with Eddie, who was feeling jealous of Kyle. Adam was feeling abandoned by Kyle so he began hanging around with Eddie, giving him the support to break from Davey.
Soon, the two teams basically swapped partners, with Kyle & Davey forming “Team Ambition” and Eddie & Adam plotting to kick their asses for revenge. Got it??
All the jealousy and back-stabbing, all the hurt feelings and betrayals, makes this scenario seem like a Soap Opera. Instead of working partnerships, the relationships between the men seem more like domestic partnerships. If Tag Teams are meant to be portrayed as couples, then these whole situation sounds like an episode of Queer as Folk.
Emotions are running high. Lots of sexy tough talk is being spewed by the four men (especially Davey) about what they are planning to do to hurt one another. Tune in to Ring of Honor‘s Tenth Anniversary on-line Pay Per View tomorrow at 5:00 PM to see what happens next between these four great, great-looking, and passionate wrestlers on As The Ring Turns…
I’ve felt bad for Adam throughout this whole thing! I hope he kicks ass.
