Reign of Dominance

The current season of WWE’s new talent showcase — which is called “NXT” — is shaping up to be an exciting show with lots of great future talent.  You can view the full episodes on WWE’s website.  On the 6/27/12 episode, Jinder Mahal entered the ring and delivered a promo, partly in English, before his match:

“NXT will be molded in my vision!… You all will become subservient as you witness my reign of dominance!”

This threat was delivered, not to his opponent who hadn’t entered the ring, but to the crowd in general and to the viewers at home.  The implication is that Mahal wants to dominate us — to make all of us subservient to him.  The jobber that Mahal will be dominating is really just a representative of each of us, our agent in the ring who suffers the beating that Mahal actually intends to inflict on us to get us to worship him, to force us to become “subservient” (and sexually submissive) to him.  Mahal is a Foreign Invader who doesn’t even speak great English, which is meant to make his inevitable domination over all of us seem that much more humiliating.

Jason Jordan, the muscular young jock in the red trunks, is Mahal’s opponent.  His trunks say “Get Some” across his buttocks, which is perhaps an invitation to his opponent (or to all of us) to rape him.  It really is the perfect phrase for a jobber to have written across his ass — further enticement for the fans to consider the weaker wrestler nothing more than a Booty Call.

The match is entirely one-sided as Mahal tears Jordan limb from limb, kicking the poor kid in the head, grinding his crotch on the back of Jordan’s neck, trying to rip his arm out of the socket, etc.  We don’t see Squash Matches very often these days — we don’t want to stifle a young wrestler’s self-esteem after all.  But Mahal just simply kicks Jordan’s red-trunked, “Get Some” ass.  This is surprising because NXT is meant to be a place to market and promote hot new talent like Jason Jordan and let the fans see what the kid can do, yet the only thing Jordan shows us in this match is his ability to suffer.

To further his “Reign of Dominance,” Jinder Mahal demonstrates what will happen to any man who resists him:  he will break their backs.  He mounts poor Jordan from behind, sitting firmly on the jobber’s “Get Some” logo, and bends him in the wrong direction, twisting his neck from side-to-side to violently fuck up his vertebrae.

Is there anything more perfect in all the Universe than the sight of Jinder Mahal ruthlessly breaking some Boy Toy in his awesome Camel Clutch??  My favorite was when Mahal applied his Camel Clutch on Ted DiBiase Jr.  And then did it a second time!

Within moments, poor Jason Jordan is tapping out and the bell is ringing.  But Mahal won’t let him go.  He just ignores the bell and the ref’s warnings and keeps right on Camel Clutching.  Damn, I love Jinder Mahal when he’s playing the cruel foreigner — maybe because I grew up on the Sheik brutalizing his victims the same way.

It seems to me that many men want to be ruled.  Maybe because we evolved from tribes under the leadership of an Alpha Male, the vast majority of men fully expect and crave a Boss or Master to tell them what to do.  That average man prefers to be lazy, allowing an Alpha Male to think of all the strategies and deal with the problems and risks.  This is why men so easily fall in line and play Follow the Leader at work, in church while on their knees, in a classroom or military barracks, or even at home where so many men are ruled by their spouse.

Jinder Mahal provides the viewers the comfort of being ruled and owned.  He talks about his “Reign of Dominance,” establishes total authority over the submissive Jason Jordan, and releases the Camel Clutch only on his terms — when he is good and ready.  And we love him for establishing his authority over the jobber (and ourselves).
