Tackling Mexico 1 of 2

Dhani Jones is a former linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  In 2009 and 2010, he also starred in his own reality show on the Travel Channel called “Dhani Tackles the Globe.

In each episode, Dhani would travel to a remote country and learn to play a local sport.  Then he would compete against seasoned athletes to see how he fared as a beginner.  They might show him trying his hand at Water Polo, or riding a Surfboard, or playing Beach Volleyball.

Mostly they were looking for opportunities to feature Dhani shirtless, his muscular, hairy torso on display.  Every episode seemed to include one or two scenes with Dhani strutting around stripped to the waist.

On the June 14, 2010 episode, Dhani went to Mexico to get in the ring and try some Lucha Libre wrestling.  He would battle against a veteran fan-favorite called Mascara Ano 2000 Junior.

Dhani called himself “Oro Solido” (i.e., “Solid Gold”) and purchased some shiny golden ring gear.  Using the last name of “Gold” implies that he is a wealthy American athlete.  The first name of “Solid” implies that he is hard — his body is hard (or his cock is always hard…)

I must say, this is a very eye-catching look for a sexy Heel wrestler — that intimidating scowl, the full lips (accentuated by the goatee and chinless mask), the intense look in his eyes.  Damn, Dhani!  Great beard, great mask!

Also adding to Dhani’s sex appeal is his thick chest hair, rare for a Luchador, further flaunting his raw, aggressive masculinity.

Dhani portrays the arrogant stud strutting down the aisle in his cape, oozing sex appeal, teasing the crowd with his hairy chest on display, forcing them to at once lust after him and despise him.

His feelings of superiority are evident, as if he believes he can force anyone to worship and obey him. (Me! ME!)

Once in the ring, Dhani has his mask removed, showing that he refuses to follow the Mexican tradition of the hooded warrior.  This will surely make him unpopular with the Latino audience.  The opponent — Mascara Ano 2000 — on the other hand proudly displays his Mexican roots in his poncho, sombrero, and hood.  Clearly the masked man is portraying a cultural hero, getting the Latino fans to identify with him.  Clearly Dhani is not going to be playing a Baby Face.  Rather he will act as the foreign invader trying to conquer and demean Mexican traditions.

It’s not long before rugged Dhani shows his Wrasslin’ prowess after just a week of training.  As sweat begins to glisten on his powerful torso, he executes several fancy moves such as the Suplex, Elbow Drop, and leaping off the ropes.

He begins to really kick the veteran Luchador’s ass, even trying to rip off his mask.  This must be extra humiliating for Mascara Ano 2000, to be out-wrestled by a rookie with just a week of training!

Besides gaining an impressive grasp of the wrestling holds and the flow of the match, Dhani also has quickly mastered ring psychology.  He carries himself with pure narcissism, using dirty tricks and smiling in pleasure as he doles out the suffering.
