I happened to see this Indy tag team match on YouTube and was impressed. The wrestling skills, the ring psychology, the physiques, the video quality — it was all so well done. Are we sure this is Indy wrestling?
The Heels are a pair of arrogant musclemen with shredded torsos and long tights. The Babies are handsome lads in red trunks, with long-haired Bolo in a satin robe. Nice.
The wrestling federation that sponsored this match is called “DOA Pro Wrestling” out of Oregon. They have a weekly television show which they, wisely, post on YouTube so guys like me who love to watch good wrestling, but happen to live closer to the other coast, can check it out.
Like many Indy feds, DOA has made their product highly accessible. They have a Web Page, Facebook, My Space, Twitter, YouTube Channel, and a photographer who posts a ton of great photos on Shutterfly. Whoever is handling their Social Media is working as hard as the wrestlers and doing a great job!
Speaking of the wrestlers, the Baby-Faces continue their Shine, placing the Heels in a compromising crotch-to-ass position to imply that they’re gay (and to minimize the homo-erotic tension and potential Gay Panic the fans may be feeling for the gayer-looking Baby team). This scene of humiliation will explain the reason for the eventual suffering to be experienced by the Baby-Faces, the pay-back that the Heels will dish out in retaliation for being “outed.”
Soon the Heels gain the upper hand over the Baby-in-Peril, Brickhouse Bereta. The Brickhouse suffers nicely, showing us his red trunks and kicking his boots around. Somebody did a good job teaching this blond Adonis how to sell the pain.
Indy wrestling may have a lower budget than the Big Federations, but you can find tons of great work by talented (and easy on the eyes) fighters. What a great time to be a wrestling fan!
All my buttons are pushed, all my favorite little flourishes are provided, by these four talented studs: Bolo observing his partner’s destruction with one boot placed eagerly on the ropes; Bereta isolated and unable to make a tag; Nelson pausing to flex a bicep and impress himself with his strength.
This is an old formula, but it still works for me, and I’m happy to see a new generation of up-and-comers using it.
Wow I like watching big Brickhouse Bereta torn down brick by brick. He probably has to play the Baby-in-Peril all the time to put over his partner, the more experienced Aaron Bolo, as the rescuer, Father Figure, and Alpha Male.
By the way, this match is from Episode 38 of the weekly DOA Main Event shows on YouTube. It begins at 38 minutes into the video.
In the end, the arrogant Heels smash a mirror over the blond Bereta’s head to knock him out so they can pin him. I didn’t capture a good photo of the mirror being smashed into his skull, but trust me, the broken glass is violent looking and really shocks the live audience. Like I said, this DOA seems to be an above-average Federation, delivering some great wrestling, dedicated athletes, and high-quality production.
After winning the match, we hear Ryseck’s entrance music: “Sexy and I Know it.” When I first heard that song almost a year ago, I blogged about it as good theme music for an arrogant Heel. Ryseck either thinks just like me, or he reads this blog and took my advice.
Is there anything Hotter? A Beautiful Blonde Jobber getting Punished— Worked over, then Pinned. OMG….. how I LOVE Pro Wrestling!!!
Love Aaron Bolo! First saw him on Smackdown in a hot squash here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jqu1JhARNOo
But I’m thrilled that you’ve introduced me to Brickhouse Bereta! Thanks!
