Losing Battle

I am not usually a fan of Battle Royals, where a group of wrestlers try to throw each other out of the ring and the last man standing wins.  There is just too much brawling happening at once for me to focus on one wrestler’s suffering.

Also, they don’t usually apply holds in a Battle Royal, and wrestling holds are the whole point of “wrestling.”  Instead, they just punch each other and try to lift one another over the ropes, not really my cup of tea…

But there is one exception: I do enjoy those Battle Royals that end with an out-numbered hero, left alone in the ring with multiple opponents who relentlessly punish him.

Here are scenes from a Battle Royal match featured on a recent episode of Metro Pro Wrestling, which is available on YouTube.  The smaller wrestler with the Australian flag on the back of his trunks is Dingo.  He is the last Baby Face in the ring against two big heels known as the “Kansas City Killers.”

I am a sucker for double-team wrestling.  A two against one fight is just so wonderfully unfair and cruel, so I love scenarios that tell the story of a man getting punished by multiple opponents.

Against all odds, Dingo is able to knock both opponents out of the ring and win.  However, a stipulation of the match was that the winner must immediately defend his championship title, so poor exhausted Dingo must now wrestle Mark Sterling as Sterling’s friends at ringside try to cheat and help him win.

A nasty, illegal low blow emasculates Dingo and renders him helpless, limp, and easily pinned.  Not only is his manhood taken away, he also loses the championship which he only held onto for a matter of minutes.

The fans are then treated to some post-match humiliation and bullying by the Kansas City Killers — another hot button of mine.  Damn, don’t you just love all the great Indy pro wrestling available on YouTube!?

If you want to watch Dingo getting roughed up and bullied by three men at once, be sure to check out Metro Pro Wrestling show #098.  The Battle Royal begins at 39:40 and the post-match cruelty, if that’s your turn-on, begins at 46:40.
