Enhancement Talent

In the past, wrestling jobbers were never up front about their role as scrubs even though everyone knew they would never win a match against a more popular wrestler.  The jobbers would act as if they were actually trying to win, as if they were really competing but were simply out-gunned.

In an interesting post-modern twist, a pair of wrestlers from Pro Wrestling Syndicate (PWS) have now taken the names “Jobber Justin” and “Jobber Dustin” and even printed the word “Jobbers” on the front of their matching pink trunks. They also call their tag team “Enhancement Talent” which is a fancier name for a jobber — a wrestler whose purpose is to suffer and to lose in order to make the other talent in the ring look better and more powerful by comparison.

Jobber Dustin and Jobber Justin recently participated in a Triple Tag Team match.  They enter the ring looking cute, clean-cut and smooth as a jobber should.  They also dress in matching light blue trunks with white waistbands (nice jobber colors).  The third man on their team is John Silver, shown here in silver trunks with a large, phallic “#1” printed boldly over his bulge.

Their opponents are two long-haired wrestlers in pink and black tights called the Southside Playaz Club.  Their gimmick is that they are hyper-sexual and horny partiers.  They enter the arena with at least one slut or stripper on their arm to flaunt their heterosexuality.

Their My Space page says: “About me: I love women, partying, and livin’ it up!!!” They certainly understand that sex sells in the wrestling ring, and much of the appeal of wrestling is sex appeal. 

The sixth man in the ring, the Playaz partner, is the Big O.  You’ve probably seen pictures of him before if you follow the Beefcakes of Wrestling blog.  He is a whole big bag of eye candy for lovers of muscle, masculinity, and pure brute power.

Well this triple tag team match seems to be eye candy overload, making it difficult for the audience to decide which wrestler to gawk at.  One thing that the audience can be sure of is that the pretty-boys in “Enhancement Talent” will fall for every trick, get caught in every hold, and for the most part, stay on their knees or their backs so the other men will appear mighty and unbeatable.  Sure enough, in the opening moments of the match, “Enhancement Talent” generally gets their asses kicked…

By the way, you might have noticed the Big O has a paragraph tattooed on his left pectoral, and you might be wondering what it says.  Here is the quotation:

Joe Silver performs some talent enhancement of his own, suffering under the power of the Big O, demonstrating his own weakness and vulnerability compared to the brute strength and invincibility of the huge stud.  The only way “Enhancement Talent” can eventually gain control of this match is through, of course, trickery and deceit.

There is something appealing about the Jobbers’ willingness to accept the submissive role and cop to it — to even name themselves “Enhancement Talent” to advertise the fact that they’re willing to suffer and lose.  It’s almost as if they love the jobber role.
