Wrestlers vs. Rasslers, part 1 of 2

Alpha1The tag team known as “American Alpha” are the current Hopeful Baby-Faces on NXT (available on WWE Network.)  They dress in matching team uniforms to emphasize the bond between them — they have dozens of flamboyant outfits like this.

Their singlets are an unfortunate gear choice because you can see that these studs are blessed with some smoking physiques under all that spandex. Apparently, instead of showcasing those amazing bods, they’ve decided to highlight their amateur wrestling backgrounds.  They want to be certain we understand that they can wrestle — like Real Wrestling, not this fake shit.

Revival never forget their pre-match embrace.

Revival never forget their pre-match embrace.

On the July 6th episode of NXT, American Alpha were given a title shot against these manly, aggressive Heels known as the Revival — Dash and Dawson.  I love these guys.

I’ve blogged about the Revival several times recently because they’re such aggressive, dominant Alpha Males and so fun to watch as they torture all the pretty-boys.  They really grasp the psychology of  Tag Team Rasslin’ and their role as the Dominating Daddies. They also man-hug each other frequently which always gets my attention.  It’s so nice when manly men show affection like this.

Keep the gold belt -- I'd be more than satisfied with a big hug.

Forget the gold belt — I’ll settle for a nice big hug.

Speaking of man-hugs, the American Alphas actually won the Tag Team straps from the Revival a few months ago (and later lost them back), and here is how they celebrated.  Wow.

Jason Jordan has pulled down his singlet straps to reveal that swole chest (he does that often, thankfully.)  His over-joyed partner leaps into his arms like a wife whose husband just got out of prison.  They embrace for longer than usual with Jordan holding his partner in one arm and burying his face in that long flowey hair.

Revival give Jordan's leg the rough treatment.

Revival give Jordan’s leg the rough treatment.

So this match permits us to observe what happens when a pair of skilled grapplers — Jordan and Gable in their amateur singlets — try to fight a pair of aggressive Rasslers.

The nasty Heels isolate Jordan in their corner and put the boots to his left leg.  Like any good Heel team, they will focus their on-going attacks on that leg in a coordinated effort to break it.

Alpha4Alpha5These teams have fought several times, and wrestling fans are buzzing about what great dance partners they make.  The American Alphas are so darned sincere and likeable, the audience can’t help but chant “Al-PHA!

Meanwhile the Revival are the most dickish Heel studs I’ve seen in years.  They remind me of Arn and Tully.

Alpha10Scott Dawson is especially tough looking and oozing sex appeal with that bald head and thick beard.  He is like the dictionary definition of a classic Heel: “see Scott Dawson.

Seeing a bald guy who looks all aggressive and brutal like that, you just want to watch him dominating prettier men — and Dawson never disappoints.

Alpha15Alpha13This was actually a Best of Three Falls match, which is great because we got to watch these entertaining teams in action for a really long time.

After surviving his leg punishment, Jason Jordan tags in his partner Chad Gable and American Alpha wins the first fall.

There sure is a lot of celebratory hugging going on in this match.

There sure is a lot of celebratory hugging going on in this match.

Jason Jordan celebrates their first fall victory by peeling down his singlet straps and, what else?, giving his partner a big back-slapping embrace.

What follows is then a really long, really exciting Face-in-Peril performance by Chad Gable.  I want to write a lot more about that and how much I enjoyed it (and post a bunch of images of course.)   However, this article is already getting long and I got stuff to do, so I will save the Gable Abuse for another day.
