Fighting Champion

I’ve always meant to blog about this beefy Viking-looking stud — Alexander Hammerstone.  He is the dominant Heel on West Coast Wrestling Connection which posts its weekly episodes on YouTube.

Other bloggers have already noticed him and drooled all over him, so I guess today is my turn.  Here are some descriptions of Hammerstone from the Ringside at Skull Island blog article called Suplex Party:

  • Undefeated Alexander Hammerstone (“hailing from Valhalla”) is basically a Mack truck in tight black trunks.
  • Hammerstone’s a beaut all right–all 246 pounds of him.
  • It’s as if Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Randy Orton had a baby boy.

On Episode #30 of the West Coast Wrestling Connection (posted to YouTube on 12/16/14), Danny Duggan foolishly put his belt on the line against Hammerstone.  We see Duggan remove his trademark 80’s-style jams and satin jacket to reveal a tan physique and flamboyant purple and yellow trunks.  Oh, it is plain to see that this pretty-boy is about to SUFFER…

Sure enough, the big Norse God, Hammerstone in his tuff black gear just destroys the soft Champ in the silk panties and white boots.  Hammerstone is superb at striking dominant poses, standing over his prey looking unbeatable.

Danny Duggan fits the classic definition of a “Fighting Champion.”  This term is used to describe a belt-holder who willingly puts his title on the line against any challenger.

The term is traditionally applied to a brave, heroic Baby-Face as a mark of respect for his work ethic, his willingness to risk his title belt (and masculine pride) against anyone no matter how dangerous. Rather than hiding behind the minimum deadline to defend his belt, a Fighting Champion just wants to wrestle anyone, anywhere.

But I always felt that a Fighting Champ was a bit of a chump — a bit too naive.  Is Danny Duggan aware that this big Hammerstone is undefeated?  Can’t he see that this blond monster is larger, more aggressive, and more willing to hurt another man to get his way??

The fact that the brave, hapless Champ is willing to wrestle any challenger makes one pity him — makes one realize that Good Guys really do finish last (the fools) which kind of gives one a boner.

Hammerstone’s onslaught is wonderfully brutal, punctuated with stunning Elbow Smashes, stiff kicks, and plenty of Tossed-Across-the-Ring Suplexes and Bodyslams.

Meanwhile, Duggan’s trunks are a treat to watch — bright, silky, and unruly — riding up provocatively while the champ is too distracted by his pain to bother stretching that spandex back where it belongs.

<– Apparently Hammerstone and Duggan have faced off before as shown in this photo from last year.   Hammerstone wore two-toned black and white trunks for that match and Duggan again found himself, as usual, flat on his back looking up in worship at his conqueror.

As a Fighting Champion, this is Duggan’s well-deserved fate.  His gullible heroic nature requires him to get in the ring with all worthy challengers, even a much stronger Alpha Male who, everyone knows, can easily destroy him.  His apparent willingness to be sissified and emasculated adds a homo-erotic tone to the repeated scenario of prolonged abuse.  His unavoidable urge to get in the ring and suffer these humbling beatings makes him seem downright masochistic (which is hot if you think about it..)

For a Fighting Champion, Duggan is always surprisingly submissive and compliant.  In nearly every match, he adopts the dazed ragdoll persona: groggy, weak, with all strength drained from his arms as he allows his opponent to control him like a puppet on a string.

Yes, this is exactly why I enjoy Danny Duggan’s matches, because he is the Man Without an Ego, willing to suffer shamelessly for our viewing pleasure.  Here he drapes his body on the ropes like wet laundry hung out to dry, giving us plenty of opportunities to check out every inch of him.  I love this wimp.

Usually in pro wrestling, the Baby-Face champion will overcome the odds at the last moment, like the proverbial David somehow defeating the sadistic Goliath.  Our take-away is that persistence and intestinal fortitude will pay off.  However, Danny Duggan is not so fortunate in this match

For once, nature is permitted to take its course as the carnivore is seen devouring its meaty prey.  Hammerstone breaks poor Duggan across his shoulders, smashes his body down across one bent knee, then pins him fair and square for the victory and possession of both their gold belts.  I suppose I should feel sorry for poor, cute Danny Duggan, but I’m too distracted right now by that body on the dominant Lord Hammerstone.
